Phyllis Beard

Diagnosed in 2003, Phyllis Beard was born in Monroe, Georgia where she attended Monroe Elementary School, Carver Jr. High School, and Monroe Area Comprehensive High School. She began her professional career cooking in various restaurants. Her primary responsibility in her current position is making delicious homemade baked goods (which she’s known for) and preparing healthy salad bars. When she is not working, you can find her volunteering in the community as an HIV educator. When asked what keeps her going, she replied she has five daily affirmations: I am living my best life! I am enough! I am beautiful! I am smart! I am strong! Phyllis has been awarded many accolades, awards, and certifications for her HIV advocacy over the years. She’s most proud of the fact that people know her for her compassion, knowledge, honesty, and understanding.
